Music to heal the soul and the planet

James Barralet is a brilliantly talented cellist with a unique story.

With a background as a classically-trained and internationally acclaimed soloist, his career was cut short by severe tinnitus at the same time as he received a diagnosis of autism. He put down his cello as the ensuing crisis brought him to the edge of despair.

His love of Bach and nature brought him back. As well as busking to survive, he is also taking the music of Bach into churches in partnership with Trees of Music. This video tells his story in his own words and music.

He is one of many ambassadors for Trees of Music, the campaign to preserve and replant the pernambuco tree. This uniquely resonant wood has given the strings their voice for centuries, but today it faces extinction and needs our support.
