Slime mould as an inspiration for RAIN
Slime moulds, like mycelia and other networking creatures, know how to share, to redistribute resources, information and what they have learned.
Despite being single-celled protists with neither brains nor nervous systems, their intelligence is astonishing. They map their environment and redistribute resources in ways that outperform our most advanced mathematical models. They perceive rhythms in time and alter their behaviour in response to events before they happen. They learn skills that help them thrive, and they teach what they have learned to other slime moulds.
They are an inspiration to us at RAIN, and a model for how to run an NGO without falling into the unconscious habits of colonial thinking.
